We believe in small and medium-sized private businesses and the importance of their existence both for the town where they are located as well as for entrepreneurship in general. Our experience of company building drives is to invest in enterprises in order to help develop and build successful companies. We are aware of what it takes to create stable and profitable businesses and the importance of having reliable and confident owners.

Gapyel has so far acquired a majority stake in two companies.
They have in common that they:
  • Present in a growing market,

  • Have a strong market position in their respective market niches,

  • Have a sound profitability,

  • Utilize the present wave of digitalization in society to their advantage,

  • There were some of the previous owners wanting to sell their shares, and

  • Some of the previous owners remain in the business to secure continuity and success in the development of the business going forward.


Case

Guldbrev.se

Guldbrev buys gold from consumers in Sweden, Norway and Finland. The consumer orders an insured letter, send in their gold to Guldbrev who then buys it. The company utilizes the digital channel in it’s communication with consumers. Guldbrev is the online market leader in the Nordics and has recently opened up a business in the Netherlands. The company had at the time of acquisition a revenue of €8,5M.

Case

Curonova Group AB

Curonova helps unemployed in Sweden find a job or begin studies through the work done by the company’s ”matchers” on a daily basis in combination with the datadriven platform used by the company. Curonova has in a couple of years become one of the largest in it’s business in Sweden. The company interacts with it’s unemployed participants using digital channels and uses datadriven decisionmaking in order to increase the probability of a participant finding a job or suitable studies. The company had €6,5 M in revenue at the time of acquisition.

Founders


Gustaf Kellner

Worked as CEO in online-related companies since the spring of 2010. Gustaf has previous experience from several positions within growth companies, amongst other Skype, which is Swedens first unicorn. He has co-founded several companies and made 5 angel investments. Gustafs digital experience ranges from e-commerce to influencer marketing and has over 13 years of experience in the tech/digital growth/startup businesses.

Peter Gullander

Peter has over 20 years of experience in the private equity business where he has been responsible for over 50 investments and appointed to over 20 board of directors. Prior to co-founding Gapyel, he was CEO of a Swedish €200M governmental fund since the autumn of 2014. Peters previous experience ranges from Intel Capital, partner at Verdane Capital, investment banking in London and the financial consulting through Yellowtree Advisors as well as investment banking in London. 


WE SEEK MORE COMPANIES

The companies we are looking for satisfy some or all the following criteria:

  • A majority ownership stake for sale, i.e. 51-90% ownership.
  • A revenue ranging between €1.5M-€30M with an EBITDA of €0,5M-€2M.
  • En omsättning mellan 15-300 MSEK och ett resultat före avskrivningar om 5-20 MSEK.
  • Company valuation (EV) ranging from €4M-€25M.
  • A strong market position in a growing market.
  • The digital ecosystem is (or can become) an important factor for growth.
